Overview of Services


The City of Groveport Building and Zoning Department issues permits and performs inspections for all phases of commercial and residential construction. Permits and inspections can be obtained and scheduled by calling 614-830-2045, 24 hours a day.

Office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on weekdays. Inspections called in before 9 a.m. may be scheduled for the same day, unless it requires the Fire Department to be on site for the inspection.

Madison Township


The Building Department also provides commercial building permit services by contract to Madison Township. A Certificate of Zoning Compliance is required for the Madison Township prior to submitting building plans to the City of Groveport for approval.

In order to provide the best service possible to our citizens, developers and builders, the Department is asking to receive comments from those who have obtained permits for projects within the City of Groveport about their experience with the permitting process.   1. Applications & Fees

  2. Board of Zoning Appeals

    Find agendas, minutes, and meeting times for the Board of Zoning Appeals. The Board of Zoning Appeals consists of five members who are residents of the City and are appointed by the mayor and subject to approval by Council. The Board hears and decides appeals to regulations governing zoning requirements in the City.

  4. Madison Township Services

    The City of Groveport Building Department also provides Commercial building permit services by contract to Madison Township.

  5. Planning & Zoning Commission

    Find agendas, minutes, and meeting times for the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Planning Commission consists of five members, the Mayor, a member of Council, and three citizens appointed by the Mayor subject to approval by Council. The Board hears and makes recommendations of zoning amendments, use variances, plats & development plans.

  6. Property Maintenance

    The Property Maintenance Division works in partnership with our citizens to improve and maintain the quality of our community by promoting and maintaining clean, safe and attractive neighborhoods and business districts.
